Rain could not dampen the spirits of those who came out to celebrate all things local and farm-y at the annual Farm Fresh Friday event. The event featured local food from Hanover favorites Skinny Pancake, Blank Slate Bubble Tea, Griddle and Groovy, Bright Sun Kitchen, along with Cobb Hill Cheese from Hartland, Vermont. Students had the opportunity to tie dye t-shirts, dance to music from student bands and seed their own soil blocks.
Green Greek Intern Dan Lafranier '17 shares his thoughts on the importance and impact of events like Farm Fresh Friday.
"Events like farm fresh are so important because they are an opportunity to share sustainability practices with the general public in a low-key way. These events are great ways to show the presence of the sustainability on campus as well as make sustainability a talking point. Personally, I really like events like Farm Fresh, FRESH and Brewhaha, because of their emphasis on local foods and drinks. They are more palatable forms of sustainability, instead of jumping deep into something like composting. I like to think that these events are like gateways into a more sustainable and green lifestyle."
