October is HERE!!!


ALL WEEK LONG

DROUGHT
  • New Hampshire is under a statewide fire ban due to the recent extreme drought status.

  • All fires are not permitted in the state, including the cancellation of the bonfire for homecoming.


APPLY for the Arctic Sustainability Immersion Trip in Finland, Spring Break, 2026! 

March 18th-28th, 2026 | Rovaniemi, Inari, & Hetta, Finland

Applications are due October 8th by 11:59pm. 

  • Students will travel through Northern Finnish Lapland, above the Arctic Circle, to exchange knowledge and share cultural experiences with local partners– Educators and leaders in the Sámi reindeer herding community, Arctic researchers, Arctic policymakers, natural resource management experts, and more!

  • The immersive nature of the trip will include outdoor activities and cross-country travel in a cold snowy climate. Aspects of the trip will center around Arctic policy, climate science, Indigenous coproduction of knowledge and community-led land-based solutions.

  • You’ll gain a deeper understanding of how green transitions affect Arctic communities and why it’s important that these changes are fair and inclusive. The question is: Whose green transition is it, really?

  • Come swing by our on-campus thrift store, the Free Market, this weekend! All clothing is reclaimed from Dartmouth's waste streams. Instead of buying new clothing, get second-hand for free!


DARTMOUTH AS LIVING LAB RESEARCH SUMMIT
4:30PM - 5:30PM | Irving Project Hub
  • Come learn how Dartmouth faculty are using our campus and community as a living lab to tackle climate and sustainability challenges and how you can apply for funding!


POP-UP BIKES SHOP
4:30 - 6PM | Bikes Shop (Fahey-Mclane patio)
  • Dartmouth Bikes hosts Pop Up Bike Shops (PUBS) weekly (weather permitting) outside of the bike shop on the Fahey-McLane patio located on the Tuck Mall side of the building. These are for simple bike registrations, tune-ups requiring less than 15 minutes of work, as well as general maintenance like chain lube and air (which are always free).


FOSSIL FREE DARTMOUTH - WEEKLY MEETING
6:00PM - 7:00PM | Sustainable Living Center
  • Come join Fossil Free Dartmouth for their weekly meeting at the Sustainable Living Center (2 Choate Road)!


WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 8th

FARM WORK DAY
1:00PM - 3:00PM | Behind Robo
  • Looking for fun farm vibes? Join Lucy '26 and Addie '27 for a farm workday and fulfill your New England fall dreams.

  • The trip is open to everyone and no experience is required. No gear is required other than water bottle and weather-appropriate clothes. We will be leaving after 11's at 1pm and be back by 3pm!

12:00PM - 1:30PM | Collis Patio or Robison 106 if the weather is bad
  • Join Sustainability Staff for office hours! Whether you’ve got a question about sustainability at Dartmouth or want to learn more, or just want to spend time with others and eat some delicious homemade baked goods, all are welcome.

  • This trip is beginner friendly, so no experience required. Just bring good vibes, clothes you don't mind getting a little dirty, and a water bottle. We hope to see you there!!

  • Join Zoe, Abby and Journey for a morning workday at the Organic Farm! Think being outside, enjoying fall, and touching dirt.

  • We'll leave at 8am, drive about ten minutes to the farm, and return to campus in time for 10s. Absolutely no experience necessary! Just wear clothes/shoes you don't mind getting a tad dirty and bring a water bottle. Excited to head to the farm with you!

Irving Institute Student Grant Priority Applications
