We'll be hearing from Charis Boke, Teaching Faculty in Anthropology at Dartmouth, Kali Smolen, MD-PhD Student at Geisel, and Chelsey Canavan, Adjunct Faculty in Public Health at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice.

  • Directly following the panel, there will be an opportunity to engage further with these topics of health and sustainability and reflect on what the panelists share through small-group discussion and individual reflection.

  • Dinner will include local veggies from Honey Field Farm in Norwich, VT and empanadas and salad from Moon and Stars. Moon and Stars, based in the Upper Valley, connects community, traditional food, and regenerative farming through heirloom corn and the food-making process. WEEKLY FEATURE

So much of our media is mired in gloom and doom–and don't get us wrong, there's a lot to be wary of when it comes to our fight for a just, livable future in the face of intensifying injustices and climate change. But, there's also SO much good work being done, too, that rarely gets highlighted, and we're here to begin to change that.

  • In a major win for public health and the environment, the EPA finalized new, tighter standards on PM2.5 air pollution, also known as soot. According to the Washington Post, the stricter standards could prevent thousands of premature deaths, particularly in communities of color where people have breathed unhealthy air for decades. Read more about this climate win here.

  • If you want to see more climate wins, advocacy, and activism, follow @earthjustice on Instagram!

If you've got a climate win or sustainability star you're excited about, big or small, email us at sustainable.dartmouth@dartmouth.edu, and we'll include it in next week's newsletter! According to the IPCC, every action that prevents further degrees of global warming, no matter what scale, is meaningful.
