SUSTAINABLE MOVING SALE
Each year the Dartmouth Sustainability Office hosts the Sustainable Moving Sale during orientation week. The hard working Moving Sale team collects unwanted dorm room supplies from those moving out at the end of spring and sorts, cleans, and then resells those items to students moving in at the beginning of fall term. The sale was founded by students in 2006 and is still run by students.
Every year, the Moving Sale team keeps tons of waste out of the landfill by repurposing mini-fridges, sports gear, shower caddies, mirrors, posters, lamps and more!
Common items we usually have plenty of:
- Mini Fridges
- Lamps
- Storage containers
- Kitchen items
- Hangers
- Mirrors
- Dorm decor
- Organization racks
- Coffee makers
- School supplies
- & MUCH MORE!!
Hanover community yard sale
The Hanover Community Yard Sale is a much anticipated, annual event co-hosted by the Dartmouth Sustainability Office and the town’s Sustainable Hanover Committee. Held annually on Labor Day weekend, this mega yard sale offers residents the opportunity to set up stalls and sell items. The event is a great way to complete a summer clean out, stock up on low cost, used but still useful items or find treasures you didn’t even know you were looking for! Sign-ups and more information are available every August on the Town of Hanover Website.
Dartlist is like Craigslist, for Dartmouth. Since its inception in 2011, Dartlist has been a place for Dartmouth students and staff to buy and sell goods, find rides, and share information about campus events. Dartlist is meant to help our community, and particularly newcomers making their way to the Upper Valley, find jobs, household items, transportation, and places to gather. Dartlist also helps us reduce waste on and around campus. A lot of hard goods (like furniture) and other reusables (like lamps, tvs etc) end up in landfills. By providing a place for people to buy, sell and exchange goods instead of throwing them away or buying new ones, Dartlist reduces the amount of stuff that’s thrown away. Before you buy new, check out Dartlist!
