Here's what's happening this week in Sustainability!

Director of Sustainability Rosi Kerr, Senior Vice President Josh Keniston, and Special Advisor to the Provost Laura Ogden joined a forum hosted by Dartmouth Student Government and the Susty Office to unpack the Dartmouth Climate Collaborative. APPLY TO SUSTY INTERNSHIPS!
Due May 22nd | On JobX
  • 25s and 26s! Consider applying to intern with Dartmouth Sustainability 24F-25S! Applications for Sustainable Dartmouth Interns and First Year Program Managers are now on JobX.

  • First Year Program Managers must be on campus for fall, winter, and spring terms, and priority will be given to Sustainable Dartmouth applicants here for all three terms as well.

  • All internships are paid and no experience is necessary. We welcome applicants with a wide range of identities, interests and backgrounds - from activism to policy to crunching numbers and running events.

TUESDAY, May 21st

O-FARM WORK DAY
8 - 10AM | Rides from behind Robo
  • Join Hannah C '26 and Amelia '25 on a spring morning workday this Tuesday at the farm to transplant some plants down to the field!

  • You don't need any experience, just come excited and prepared to get your hands dirty!

FREE MARKET THRIFT STORE OPEN HOURS
7 - 9PM | North Mass Basement
  • Excited by our thrift store and want to help sustain our efforts? Shocked by the amount of waste on campus and want a tangible way to curb it? Join us for a volunteer work session at the Free Market!

  • Help fold and sort clothing, organize the thrift store space, and more.

 

WEDNESDAY, May 22nd

SUSTAINABILITY OFFICE HOURS
12:00PM - 1:30PM | Robinson Hall (106)
  • Come ask Susty staff questions about sustainability and learn more about sustainability at Dartmouth! There will be sweet treats for you to enjoy.

  • All are welcome, and no prior involvement with Dartmouth Sustainability is required. Bring your friends!

 

THURSDAY, May 23rd

O-FARM WORK DAY
8 - 10AM | Rides from behind Robo
  • Get your morning off to the right start and head out to the Farm! We'll be working on a set of miscellaneous tasks around the farm and we'd love for you to join us!

  • Sign-ups coming soon on Trailhead.

12:30 - 2PM | North Mass Basement
  • Instead of buying new, get your fresh fit at the Free Market!

  • You can also drop off donations during our open hours.


BREWHEHE PLANNING MEETING
1 - 2PM | Irving 180
  • Brewhaha's (aka one of the BEST campus-wide farm celebrations) little sibling Brewhehe has a planning meeting Thursday at 1pm in Irving 180!! This is a great chance to be involved in brainstorming the amazing food, drinks, and activities for Brewhaha (and it will look a little different this year so if you have thoughts on how you want it to roll, this meeting is for you)

  • ANYONE is encouraged and welcome to join - just a chance to put some heads together and make things happen!

  • Looking for a tangible way to get involved with sustainability efforts on campus? Come volunteer with our Free Market Thrift Store!

 

SATURDAY, May 25th

BREWHEHE

11AM - 2PM | Rides from behind Robo

  • The highly anticipated farm event of the year is soon incoming… Brewhaha takes place next weekend!! What wonderful news! but, plot twist… this year it is BrewHEHE ☺️

  • Join us for a day filled with beautiful farm vibes, baby goats 🐐, kombucha, games, wood-fired pizza, book arts and live music! 

  • There will be shuttles starting at 10:45am, every 30 minutes to and from the farm, leaving from behind Robo. Please DO NOT DRIVE – take the shuttles instead as there is not enough parking at the O-Farm for everyone to drive themselves!

  • Come swing by our on-campus thrift store, the Free Market, this weekend! All clothing is reclaimed from Dartmouth's waste streams. Instead of buying new clothing, get second-hand for free!

 

SUNDAY, May 26th

FREE MARKET THRIFT STORE BIRTHDAY PARTY
12PM - 3PM | North Mass Basement
  • The Free Market is turning 1 year old! We've clocked over 1200 people coming through our doors and getting access to clothing they need and more (and that stat is just a fraction of the real total).

  • Swing by any time from 12-3 to celebrate with us, and be sure to bring a gift (in the form of your old clothes you'd like to donate!) to the store.

  • There will be cupcakes!! 🧁

RAPID AND EQUITABLE TRANSPORT DECARBONIZATION IN THE AGE OF ELECTRIFICATION
Wednesday, May 22 | 3:30 - 4:30PM | Online
  • Research seminar with Madalsa Singh, PhD candidate in the Department of Energy Science and Engineering at Stanford, presents on their research about decarbonizing transportation, a major source of greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution, comparing electric vehicles with efficient conventional vehicles.
